Select one theme (e.g. ‘program’) and the accompanying buildings/landscape case
studies associated with it. Study the pair of buildings/landscape case studies you
have chosen in terms of the major theme. In your discussion, relate at least 3-4
topics to each other. Pay special attention to similarities and differences between the
two buildings/landscape case studies.
Review the notes you have made about this pairing and images supplied by your
tutor to your tutorial group. For each case study, make a comprehensive list of
keywords or “key phrases”. Indicate clearly which keywords or “key phrases” were
used by the architect/landscape architect and which of them were introduced by you
to refer to implicit concerns directly inferred from the architect’s/landscape architects
statements. If the keywords or “key phrases” can be analysed in terms of clusters,
arrange them appropriately as clusters. At the end of this process, you will have two
separate and independent lists of keywords or “key phrases” (one list for each case
study). Sometimes a list may be presented in the form of annotated diagrams to
indicate clusters. Select 4 keywords or “key phrases” (two for each case study) and
comment on them briefly to indicate their specific meanings in the context of the

Part 2 (600 words):
This part of the assignment consists of two sub-parts, one for each case study you
have selected. For each case study, make a study of some keywords or “key
phrases” identified in Part 1 and arrange your study involving; Three pairs of
keywords or “key phrases”, each pair of keywords should indicate correlative or
contrasting considerations in the case study. In discussing each pair of keywords or
“key phrases”, relate them to appropriate images and ensure that the images are
positioned on the same double-page spread as the discussion.
