My experience in this course as I progress through learning the topics relating to Team Management and decision making has been very satisfying and educative. I have been involved in learning topics like different types of teams, the internal and external team dynamics, how to form new teams and how to retain the motivation among team members, how are the teams managed, the different types of conflicts that may arise in the teams and how to resolve them etc. We have also discussed topics like the necessity and importance of leadership in teams, the challenges and conflicts in leaders that may arise in various contexts, various methods that leaders employ to design and operate efficient teams. The class has also included content on topics of incentivizing and motivating team members to efficiently deliver the required objectives.

2. Base on the course content, discuss new skills you acquired from this class? How relevant are the new skills to your current and/or future profession?

This class has helped me acquire new perspective and knowledge in aspects concerning team management on how to design and operate teams and also understand the nuances that come with it. I learned how to understand the complex teams and their structure which impact the dynamics in the team. This gives a basis on which we could design various solutions in managing the teams in an effective way. This helped me learn and understand the concepts of team management that I could deliver to the expectations of the team and maneuver the complexities when working in a complex team structure. These newly earned skills help me overcome the difficulties of team and keep myself motivated to be a great team player and also assume different team roles that helps me achieve my goals effectively at my workplace.

3. How would you apply your new knowledge?

The new knowledge that I acquired through this class would be highly applicable in my workplace as I work in a vastly collaborative environment. I would definitely apply my knowledge on the conflicts that could arise in the teams and try to resolve them in the most efficient way possible. Firstly, I would try to prevent the conflicts from happening with the best of my abilities. However, if the conflicts arise, I would use the strategies as discussed to mitigate the effects of such problems. I would also assume my responsibilities as needed by the context to make the team activities run smoothly. I would also try to assume necessary roles in order to enable the team in an effective way and deliver the expectations in the most efficient way possible.
