In Carbon which is sp3 hybridized, meaning it has tetrahedral bonding geometry, how does one decide which bonds are planar, projecting forward, or are behind the other atoms? For example if there is a carbon bonded to a methyl group, like in pentene, are carbons in carbon-to-carbon bond on the same plane or is it projecting forward or behind the atoms?
