A central debate about many environmental issues (at least among those who recognize the problem is real) is how to address it. Two competing philosophies polarize this debate. They are the free market system versus state/federal intervention.  Industry (and conservatives) prefer self regulation and free market system where competition and consumers demand sort out the good behaviors from the bad. The logic is that a company that pollutes their environment would get less business from appalled consumers and thus have incentives to be safer or “green”.   On the other hand, governmental intervention (often supported by liberals) intends to force industry to follow a set of standard safety rules and limits on pollution. They argue that voluntary control does not work without transparency. This battle was well illustrated in the film Food Inc as well as the film “What Lies Upstream” (available for rent on youtube) concerning the efforts to pass legislation to protect our food or water. The battle is currently being waged over how to deal with climate change and carbon emissions. So, where do you stand on this political issue- Do you side more with the free market approach or the regulatory approach? Of is there a third way? Support your position with facts, examples, experiences, history lessons etc.

At t = 0 a car is stopped at a traffic light.

At t = 0 a car is stopped at a traffic light. When the light turns green, the car starts to speed up, and gains speed at a constant rate until it reaches a speed of 20 {rm{ m/s}} 8 seconds after the light turns green. The car continues at a constant speed for 60 {rm m}. Then the driver sees a red light up ahead at the next intersection, and starts slowing down at a constant rate. The car stops at the red light, 180 {rm m} from where it was at t = 0.

2. John Moore, a 22—year-old patient who weighs 150 pounds, presents to the emergency deparbnent (ED) after being thrown front his horse and passing out for a few minutes; heregained consciousness. The friend who was also riding a horse called the squad. The patient presented with a Glasgow IComa Scale {GCS} of 15, and the neurologic ezam waswithin normal limits ML). The EU physician wrote the orders for a CT scan without contrast of the head, CBC, renal and metabolic profile, PT, PTT, and Hill. The nurse sentthe labs and had the Pit of NS at keep-open rate per ED protocol hanging. The nurse was awaiting radiology to call for the patient to go for the ET when the patient had anepileptic cry, became unconscious, stiffened his entire body, and then had violent muscle contractions. The resp irations are very shallow, and the lips and nail bed became blue. The patient lost control of bladder and bowel. The patient bit his tongue and blood iscoming from the mouth. The radiology deparunent calls and is ready for the patient. {Learning Objectives Tr’ and 3] a. List in the correct order the actions that should be taken by the nurse. b. Ezplain what type of seizure the patient is having, and describe the fl’ll’EE phasesof the patient’s seizure and the specific nursing care for each stage. c. The ED physician orders the following: 1i.laliurn {diazepanr} 1E] mg every ill to 15minutes PEN for seizures (maximum dose of St] mg}. Once seizures stop, adrninister Dilantin (phenytoin) ll] nigflrg WPE. ECG monitoring continuously, vital signs, GCS, neurologic checlrs every 3t] minutes. Can you describe a patient with a mood disorder and the appropriate nursing interventions. Describe a client from your previous experience who experienced depression or mania. Include a brief history and 3-5 most pertinent medications.

  • Identify one problem that was not resolved with the treatment regimen. What are the reasons it may not have been successful?
  • Identify one effective nursing intervention and why you feel it worked.
  • Overall, do you feel this client was kept safe and why?

After reading Chapters 2 and 3 of the Comprehensive Preparedness Guide, choose one of the Emergency Support Functions to research.  Write a minimum of 2 pages (not including cover page and reference list) on the function and its contents. External research will generally be required but some are also discussed in Appendix C of the guide. Please create your response in a Microsoft word document, following APA guidelines, and upload as an attachment for submission.  Pages are to be double-spaced utilizing Verdana 12 point font text. The page requirements are exclusive of your reference list and cover page.

6-cm diameter disk rotates with a constant angular acceleration of 2.4 rad/s2.

A 47.6-cm diameter disk rotates with a constant angular acceleration of 2.4 rad/s2. It starts from rest at t = 0, and a line drawn from the center of the disk to a point P on the rim of the disk makes an angle of 57.3° with the positive x-axis at this time.(a) Find the angular speed of the wheel at t = 2.30 s. (Answer in rad/sec)(b) Find the linear velocity (answer in m/s) and tangential acceleration (answer in m/s^2) of P at t = 2.30 s.(c) Find the position of P (in degrees, with respect to the positive x-axis) at t = 2.30s.
