An example of binomial distribution is a coin toss. There are two possible outcomes, it is either heads or tails. Each outcome has a fixed probability. Heads and tails has the same probability of 1/2. For example the four possible outcomes that could happen if you flipped a coin twice in each toss would be similar to this:

1st toss Heads Heads

2nd toss Head Tails

3rd toss Tails Heads

4th toss Tails Tails

Since two of the outcomes represent the case in which just head appears in the two tosses, the probability of this event is equal to 1/4 + 1/4 = 1/2.
